On January 24, 2026, Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, transformed into the epicenter of luxury and high-stakes sport for the 10th-anniversary milestone of the Pegasus World Cup. The air was thick with the scent of “Pegasus Palomas” and “Dos Cupolas” cocktails as a sold-out crowd of over 10,000 guests gathered for “horse racing’s hottest party”.
In the ultra-exclusive Flamingo Room, reimagined for this decade-long celebration, the atmosphere was electric with A-list energy. Actor Mark Wahlberg led a star-studded guest list that included business mogul Kevin O’Leary, rapper Offset, and NFL player Braxton Berrios. They were joined by cultural tastemakers like Larsa Pippen, David Grutman and his wife Isabela, and Brittany Leah Peltz. As the races unfolded, influencers like Dale Moss, Alix Earle, and Xandra Pohl shared the spectacle with their millions of followers, while Empire of the Sun and Two Friends prepared for their headline performances.
The day’s competitive drama began on the turf. Jockey Manuel Franco masterfully guided Test Score (1) to victory in the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational, claiming the Baccarat Pegase Horse trophy in clear crystal.
However, all eyes were on the main event: the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational. As the dirt flew, a fierce stablemate rivalry reached its climax. Defending champion White Abarrio (11), ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., surged to the lead at the top of the stretch and looked poised to make history. But it was Skippylongstocking (5) who delivered the performance of a lifetime. Under the urgent guidance of jockey Tyler Gaffalione—who finally secured his first Pegasus win after riding in all ten editions—the 7-year-old horse overtook his rival to win by 1¾ lengths.
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. achieved a historic milestone as the first trainer to win back-to-back Pegasus World Cups, securing a rare 1-2 finish for his stable. On the winner’s podium, Belinda Stronach, Chairman and CEO of 1/ST, presented the winning team with the $57,000 Baccarat Pegase Horse in Black and the iconic championship rings, cementing a record-breaking day where wagering handle reached an all-time high of $48.5 million. photo by:© Johnny Louis | JLN Photography & Wire Services | jlnphotography.com
